Foundation stone laid for Rs 4,000 cr 'Cyber City' in Kochi.

Kochi, Jan 19: Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem laid the foundation stone for the Rs 4,000 crore 'HDIL Cyber City' here today and described it as among the 'most important' private sector investments in the state.

Speaking at the function, Mr Kareem noted that the project aimed at generating 60,000 direct and 150,000 indirect employment opportunities in the IT/ITES sectors. ''This is among the most important private sector investment proposals cleared by the LDF Government,'' he added.

Jet to fly daily to Muscat, Doha from Calicut from Jan 23

Kozhikode, Jan 19: Connecting Malabar region of Kerala to West Asia directly for the first time by a private carrier, Jet Airways will launch daily flights to Muscat and Doha from Calicut International Airport near here from January 23.

It will also launch simultaneous flights from Kochi to Muscat and from Mumbai to Doha, Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal announced here today.

Shortage of Milk Supply in Kerala
Kerala is facing a shortage of milk, forcing the Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, the largest supplier of milk in the state, to buy from neighbouring Karnataka.

The move is putting a burden on the federation, popularly known as Milma, which is suffering a loss of Rs 3 per litre of milk procured. The State government is opposing any price hike fearing public resentment.
