In the past, a nurse didn't always have a young man's family knocking at her door. But that has changed now.They are in demand.

 “ A nurse earns  $35k to $70k annually which is sometimes double the amount a software engineer earns,” says Annie Mathew who works in a hospital in UK. She hails from Kolladu village in Kottayam district of Kerala. “It wasn’t a difficult decision for me to chose this profession. Nursing is a noble profession. It provides the opportunity to go and work abroad. The promise of money and respect makes it all worthwhile” Annie adds.

Since US and Europe has much demand for qualified nurses, career in nursing comes with many other privileges such as green card, spouse’s sponsorship, housing and other facilities. The story of Kerala nurses who migrated abroad has been the subject of many scholarly articles, primarily because instead of men migrating first, women went first, got settled in their jobs and later sponsored their husbands and families.

Division of Cardiac Surgery of Asahi General Hospital in Japan for exchange and training of nurses in the Japanese hospital, recently signed an MOU with The International Center for Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Diseases, promoted by Frontier Lifeline for exchange and training of Nurses in Japanese hospital. Japanese hospitals face dearth of skilled and qualified nurses. This will open an opportunity to explore a new terrain for skilled Indian nurses. However to achieve all this Indian Nurses has to pass many hurdles. CGNFS, NCLEX-RN, TOEFL and IELTS are some of the requirements
