Mohanlal joins Kerala AIDS campaign

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who attracted much flak in Kerala for a liquor advertisement, is the state's goodwill ambassador for an AIDS awareness campaign. "As an actor, it is my responsibility to take part in such programmes and I decided to become the goodwill ambassador," said the superstar at a function to felicitate his new role Monday.

Kerala bags awards at ITB Berlin

Kerala Tourism's `Slice-of-life' campaign picked up the prestigious Das Goldene Stadttor (the Golden City Gate) at ITB Berlin 2007. Minister for Home and Tourism Kodiyeri Balakrishnan along with Secretary, Tourism, V. Venu and Director of Tourism Sanjay M. Kaul received the award at a ceremony held at ITB Berlin on March 10.

Kerala's per capita debt Rs. 14, 425.40

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala's per capita debt was estimated to be Rs 14,425.40 as on March 31, 2006, according to state Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac.

The total debt of the state stood at Rs 45929.04 crore, he said in a written reply in the state assembly today.
