In Kerala football is more famous than Cricket. Perhaps this is one reason Kerala couldn’t contribute more than a couple of exceptional cricketers to the National team. So any achievement by Sreesanth is a celebration in his home state. Shanthakumaran Sreesanth born on 6th February 1983 in Kothamangalam, Kerala is a real super star to reckon with in Indian Cricket today. Sreesanth kept his date with destiny at Johannesburg by becoming the Man of the Match by taking 8 wickets for 99 in Test match against South Africa.
Sreesanth, also a psychology student, initially was a leg spinner in his childhood. His habit of bowling Yorkers inspired his brother to advice him to take the pace route. Later Sreesanth got selection in MRF pace foundation in Chennai. His debut was in Renji Trophy against Goa in 2002-03 season. He claimed 22 wickets in seven matches in that season. He took hat trick against Himachal Pradesh in November 2004. Sreesanth’s great performance in Challenger Trophy 2005 opened doors to Indian Cricket Team. He played his fist One Day International against SriLanka. In Home Series against England in April 2006, he took 10 wickets at an average of 16.3. Sreesanth’s habit of dancing in the pitch can be attributed his early career as a break-dancer. He has to pay a fine of 30 per cent of match fee for his stunning dance performance in the pitch at Johannesburg.
