What are the ingredients?

1. Raw Rice: 500 gm
2. Coconut: 1 full cup
3. Cooked rice: half cup
4. Sugar: 2 tea spoon
5. Yeast: a pinch

 

How to prepare?

Wash the raw rice and keep it in a bowl with enough water to immerse the quantity of rice for 8-10 hrs. Grind the washed rice in a Mixer/Grinder. Add coconut, cooked rice and sugar while grinding. Grind the ingredients till it become paste form. Add pinch of yeast in it. Mix it thoroughly and keep it in a bowl for 10-12 hrs. Pour one-tablespoon full flour into ‘appachatti’ (a special shallow pan with lid required for making Appam) and spread it by holding the handles of the pan. Cook it for 10-15 minutes with lid of pan closed. Serve it hot with Mutton, Beef or Chicken Stew.
