What are the ingredients?

Image1. One cup Sambar dal
2. Half teaspoon Turmeric powder
3. 2 stem Curry leaves
4. Three cups of Water
5. Two Carrot
6. 2 tomatoes
7. 2 Potatoes

8. 3 Drum Stick
9. 5 ladies finger
10.  2 brinjal
11.  4-5 green chilies split
12.  2 spoon Red Chili powder
13.  2 spoon Coriander powder
14.  Two spoon tamarind
15.  Salt to taste
16.  Half teaspoon bitter gourd
17.  Grated molasses
18.  2 table spoon full Coconut oil
19.  1 table spoon mustard

How to prepare?

Clean the vegetables and slice into long pieces. Wash the dal. Boil 3 cups of water and cook dal in it. Add turmeric powder and curry leaves into the dal. Grind it to a smooth paste and keep aside. Mash the tamarind in 1-cup water and strain. Boil the tamarind water with red chili powder, salt, curry leaves and molasses. When it boils, add 2tbs of coconut oil. Add the vegetables except the ladies finger into it. Cook till done and add the prepared dal into it. Bring to a boil and add the ladies finger and the masalas. Remove from fire after boiling. Season with mustard seeds and dried chilies. Sprinkle the Sambar with chopped coriander leaves. Preparing Sambar actually requires practice rather than just following a recipe. Serve the Sambar with iddalli or Dosa.
